A note from the author of this site.

After completing a web design course and passing the exams I wanted a project that would put into practice what I had learnt. I live in Ilfracombe and have loved every minute of my time here. I am extremely lucky to be able to live in such a beautiful part of the UK. Therefore the choice was made to build a site showing the best and worst about my chosen home town. A site that would link to the other sites on the web that give good and accurate information about my town. A site that reflects my view of Ilfracombe. Most important, a site that gives you, the person who has taken the trouble to visit my site, the information you are looking for and, before I continue, I ask you to let me know if there is anything you would like to see here that I have missed. Contact meHERE

There are many sites about Ilfracombe and I have tried to link to the best of them. There are many that don't seem to get updated. Sorry to the authors of those sites but they will not be included here.  To those I do include I say thank you to the authors.

This site will be updated on a daily basis.

As a potential visitor to my town, this site will help you find accommodation, things to do and see, history, transport (car, bus, boat, train or coach) ghost stories, local news, weather and tidal information.  Information about the harbour, fishing fleet, sailing, boat trips, fishing, moorings and launching, plus info on our lifeboat and it's crew. There's details about our shops and offices, our pubs, inns, hotels, restaurants, take away's and entertainment, including a gig guides for the younger element. (I'm a bit old in the tooth for them). Guides to future events and a few personal stories about some of our local famous (and infamous) people.

In addition I have included details for getting your own web site at a reasonable rate.  Too many charge to much for this so I've found a way to do it extremely cheaply but with no loss of quality or service.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my site and hope you come back many times but most of all I hope your visit here has encouraged you come and see us and enjoy our Devon Welcome. Let me know your views on our town when you do and I will add them to the site.

2007.

November 2006 and I had the biggest shock of my life. Thanks to a first aid lady called Dawn I am here to be able to tell you about it. My doctor has told me that without her I would have been dead in a week. Not a twinge before but on this Friday a feeling of being cold but sweating a lot. I wont bore you with all the details but in short, after being sent to hospital by Dawn it was found that the arteries in my heart were virtually closed off. Following major surgery to replace them on 20th December I am home and recovering.

This experience has changed my life for ever. I will never take a single day for granted. I will never take any living thing for granted. This site is my hobby and my original intention was to make a good site with information about the town I love. Now my intention is to make it the best site about Ilfracombe that is available. I don't know how long I have on this planet but I do know that I intend to leave something worthwhile and this site is going to be a major part of that.

If you have any suggestions for things I can include here then please let me know. I have a lot of ideas but I do want yours. the site is for the public, locals or visitors and it is what you want that will make this site the best. It is only with your input that the site will achieve it's purpose

2008

Finally :- I started the site as explained above and am determined to keep it going but to do so out of my pension is becoming increasing difficult. I don't have any sponsors and the financial burden is becoming impossible so if you enjoy the site and would like to help a little by making a small donation it would be appreciated. There's more information about this here
