Great North Devon Camping Locations |
If you are considering a camping holiday this summer, then you are probably weighing up what area of the country to head to. Many people will often head to locations close to the sea and we love to visit the beach during the summer. Devon and more specifically North Devon is a great part of the country for a camping holiday as it has so many beautiful towns and areas to stay in. In this article, we will look at some of these places you can stay at. Woolacombe This seaside resort which lies at the mouth of the valley is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country for campers and other holiday makers. One of the biggest draws to the area is the fantastic beach, which is 2.5 miles of award winning coastline. Families and surfers flock to the area as soon as the weather starts to warm up. Woolacombe is home to many types of holiday accommodation including Campsites and Holiday Parks. Croyde This small village sits along the South West Coast Path near the National Trust owned baggy point. It is similar to Woolacombe in that most tourists visit or stay in the area for the fantastic beach. The Beach in Croyde has the European Blue Flag award which means the water and sand is of the highest quality. There are a few small campsites and holiday parks in the area, which are home to the young tourists and families that stay in the area. If you plan your holiday at the right time of the year, you can visit the Goldcoast Oceanfest surf festival which features surf competitions and live music. Combe Martin Sitting on the edge of Exmoor, the small seaside village of Combe Martin is famous for its long high street. Some people have said it is the longest high street in Britain, but this is in fact false and may stem from the fact that Combe Martin holds the record for the longest street party. Visitors to the area should check out the Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park which is home to a wide variety of animals and attractions, with an excellent Sea lion display. If you contact the park you can even swim with the Sea lions All three of these areas are great for families wanting a North Devon camping holiday, but the great thing about North Devon is that if you stay in one area you will be able to get to the other places mentioned via a short drive or bus journey. |
