Pilton is on the edge of the main Barnstaple area and appears to be a part of the town but is in fact a separate village full of it's own character. With a variety of shops, take-aways, restaurants and pubs. There's a park area and a main street full of interesting buildings including alms houses. Well worth stopping off to take a look.
